The world's first scientifically validated online application invented and designed by Dr Justin to enable IT and procurement teams to compare IT hardware by carbon footprint and eco-label certification before purchasing from usual suppliers.
Invented by sustainable IT expert Dr Justin Sutton-Parker, the Compare application enables businesses to compare computing devices such as notebooks, tablets, desktops and monitors by carbon footprint, supply chain GHG emissions or energy efficiency and eco-label certification as part of IT design or procurement strategies.
The application is unique because it deconstructs manufacturer product carbon footprint reports and re-calculates based upon bespoke contextual information input by the user. This includes where the device will most likely be used and how long they will be kept for. This enables accurate energy consumption emissions data to be generated and applied to the total carbon footprint. No other application is scientifically validated or capable of this function.
Perfect for organisations wanting to reduce ICT carbon footprint and utility costs or to create and respond to tenders that include sustainability criteria.
Use case: Comparing end user computing devices by carbon footprint before purchasing can reduce IT carbon footprint greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by as much as 82%. Information technology (IT), procurement and sustainability teams use this online application to compare end user computing devices such as notebooks, desktops, tablets and monitors by carbon footprints ahead of purchasing low GHG emissions models from your usual IT supplier.
Why use this application? Manufacturer computer carbon footprint reports are not comparable as each brand uses different calculation methods to produce GHG emissions results. The Compare application harmonises product carbon footprint data to enable you to confidently compare the carbon footprint of end user computing devices from leading brands such as Acer, Apple, ASUS, Circular Computing, Dell, Fujitsu, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft and more.
Outcome: Doing so will enable you to quickly and confidently select low carbon footprint devices that will reduce organisation’s IT carbon footprint and achieve compliance with new sustainable IT product procurement and use legislation and policies.
Functions:
Credibility: The Compare application is the only scientifically validated tool in the world that can enable you to validly compare end user computing devices. Developed by Dr Justin Sutton-Parker during PhD research with one of the world’s leading computer science faculties at the University of Warwick, the application is already used by commercial and public sector organisations responsible for millions of devices.
What do you receive? Once you have purchased a license, you will be directed to register and login to the Compare application. Access is for 12 months from date of purchase. Subscription will automatically renew after 12 months unless otherwise notified. The license is not transferrable between organisations or users unless agreed in advance. The license is for end user organisations only and not for sale to technology manufacturers, resellers or consultants intending to use the reporting capability with multiple customers.
